About us
Who are we?
Sip and Paint started from humble beginnings in 2007 when two enterprising women - Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney - started doing their part to rebuild their Hurricane Katrina-devastated community. They wanted to create an escape for people to come together and have a little fun amidst the chaos - and that's precisely what they did!
From hosting the very first event in Cathy's "barn" to now hosting events in 300 franchise locations across the nation, Cathy and Renee's small business they originally called “Corks and Canvas” has become an entire industry, the paint and sip industry.
Our mission at Sip and Paint is simple: To provide a care-free escape while making a difference in people's lives. Cathy and Renee knew from the very beginning that their events were more about the “experience” than an art class. Yes, you will create art in our studios… but we're so much more than that.
We're your home away from home, your place to recharge with friends, to rekindle romance, to laugh and let loose in a comfortable, inviting space. People from all over come to our studios each week, not because of our art, but because of how we make them feel. There's no greater feeling than knowing the positive impact we have on people's lives.
Whether you come for a girls' night out, a bridal shower, a date night, a fundraising party or a team building event, no matter what brings you into our studio, you're in for a great time!
Why is painting good for you?
No one is ever too young or too old to engage in arts and crafts. In fact, it can even be therapeutic.
Art Relieves Stress
Finding oneself immersed in arts and crafts can be some sort of meditation — it focuses your mind, pushes aside your worries, and helps you feel mentally calm. Creating art can lower one’s stress levels. Engaging in activities and hobbies like drawing, painting, taking pictures, etc. may be quite rewarding and relaxing for your loved ones.
Art Encourages Creative Thinking
Learning a new language or playing an instrument requires more than just creative thinking — similarly, art makes one think. It enhances problem-solving skills and stimulates the brain neurons.
Art Boosts Self-Esteem
Creating an artwork can make one feel quite accomplished. Because this activity releases dopamine in one’s system, it boosts drive, focus, and concentration, which provides a sense of accomplishment.
Art Eases the Burden of Dementia and other Chronic Health Conditions Art boosts one’s memory, helps lessen feelings of anxiety and agitation, and increases the connectivity of the left and right hemispheres of the brain. For these reasons, it can help improve the quality of life of patients with dementia and other conditions.
